So far, I have heard Angels and Demons as well as The Birth of Venus, which is one of my all time favorite books EVER!
When I go to the library, though, most of the cd titles are books that I've never heard and I have trouble choosing. So, I thought I would start requesting them from other libraries.
I need suggestions. What are your top three favorite books?

I'll bring you two that I have...
Have you read "The girl with dragon tattoo" series yet? Everyone I know loved it. Three books, about 2000 pages, and LOTS of audio time.
Pride and Prejudice
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
I can also recommend book tapes of any of the "Marcus Didius Falco" novels by Lindsey Davis. I listened to several in my commuting days and I enjoyed every minute. The setting is ancient Rome, and the tone is decidedly on the light side.
Ditto the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Also:
Poisonwood Bible (basically any fiction by Barbara Kingsolver)
Dogs of Babel
The Sparrow
I concur on the Barbara Kingsolver novels. And I also recommend any of the 17 Tony Hillerman books, which are set in the American west and feature two Navajo police officers and assorted interesting characters.
I vote for lighter listening! The Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series may be just the thing. Start with "One for the Money".
My car time is taken w/ classical music...specifically no words...or smooth jazz....as a slight dyslectic reading is always a chore. The car is my "get away".....so, I have no suggestions...sorry.....except agreement to surround yourself with that which absorbs you...and gives you time for creative self fulfilling expression...of the fine person that you are....
Harry Potter!
Harry Potter!
Harry Potter!
I own the Goblet of Fire on CD and you are welcome to it. The only problem is the annoying way that Jim Dale says "Harryyyy" in Hermione's voice.
I like to listen at work to books that I have enjoyed but not read in a while so that I am still interested but it is not a huge deal if I get distracted by something else, like work.
I also really enjoy the Lord of the Rings unabridged reading by Rob Inglis, but something tells me that you may enjoy it less. You might like the Hobbit.
I am listening to Pillars of the Earth right now and I really like it. I should stop putting all this on the blog and just call you. This is getting ridiculous and very long.
The Help
No Wind for Blame by Georgette Heyer
Arnaldur Indriadason's Jar City, Silence of the Grave and Voices
Margie Ryan
The Devil in the White City - it's a dual story about the World's Fair that was held in Chicago and a serial murderer that was in the news also at that time in history.
I just love 'A Dog's Purpose'. If you love dogs, it's a must read :)
